Depending on the pleco it would get to large.
Pictus catfish needs alot of room to swim.

I don't think any plecos are small enough for a 10g. Clown plecos are the smallest you can go, and they get 3-4", so I'd think more like a 15-20g for them.

Pictus cats get quite big and are very active, I don't know their exact adult size but I'd say at least a 55g for them.

If you want neons and guppies, you could have 6 neons and 3 male guppies, just keep up with the water changes.

There's more to it than filtration. Pictus cats get 4-5" and like lots of room to swim. I have mine in a 6' tank and they use the whole thing. 10g would be far too small. Plecos also get too big and are generally too messy for a small tank like that. Look at oto cats if you need an algae eater, although they are not necessary for the well-being of your tank.

If you are getting a 55g in July then wait until then to purchase any other fish and stick with the Neons and Guppies for now....

This will give you time to think over what fish you might like for the 55g and to do alot of reading on the forum to see what would be the best setup for it when you get it... I know my plans for my 55g changed more times than I can count and still I think of different things for it now.

You can probably do 6-8 neons and 3-4 guppies
