need help to ID fish

I was given two black fish, both of them are the same and they are long and thin. The bottom of the fish looks like one long fin from head to tail and it waves like a flag in the wind. I do not have a camera sorry. TIA

Jericho, fyi they get very big and need at least a 90 gallon tank. You said they don't have the stripe on the tail? how big are they at current? I know the white stripe is a distinct charictaristic, so if it's missing, you have a very unique pair!

One is 6" and the other is 5". I am going to give them to a friend that has a 180 gallon tank. They will get to big for my tank. I was also given a pleco that was over a foot long. I gave him to the LFS, he was just way to big.
