Need help with "adopted" tank

They'll be happy on flake and bloodworms for now.

How do you have live fruit flies? Are they pests from around the house (can't imagine how you'd catch them) or do you buy them? Could be a nice treat for your fish. My danios love flies, but they're almost like sharks. They eat their daily food I in under 10 seconds and I when I fed them a squashed house-fly it was nothing but wings in less than a minute. O.O

I raise my own wingless fruit flies. All you need is culture media (I get mine from Carolina Biological), yeast, plastic bottles (I use small, clean juice bottles, others use Gatorade bottles if they need bigger colonies), and cotton or filter floss to plug the top. It's really easy. One of my friends got me started when I was having trouble getting my betta to eat. He breeds killies and a few other fish and grows 4-5 types of live food for his fish. This was the easiest.

They're especially great for my betta, as he gets constipated often and won't eat peas. The chitin on the flies can't be digested, so it just pushes everything through!
