How do you get these going? AGAIN yesterday I spent almost 1/2 an hour trying to get the **** thing started. I work the stupid prime plunger continuously but it never takes. You can see water going up and down in the intake tube, you can hear it in the filter. I even tried pre-filling the filter all the way up and it is still a ***** to get running.

I thought it was because I took the ball out of the intake, so I put it back in, then I made sure all the connectors were below the water line to make sure it wasn't an air leak.

I HATE cleaning this filter out since I know it is going to take so long to start again. Is there some trick to this????

With all canisters the easy way to prime is to have the can empty, make sure the intake is submerged and the output is. Above the water line, then suck on the output until gravity takes over, let the can fill and blamo you are done. I know it sounds nasty but It works.
I usually make a fist between my mouth and the outlet so I don't have to get close with my mouth, yuk lol
