NEED HELP

Breathing hard - take a water sample to do tests on and do a large water change on the tank asap. That's gonna help them breathe better right away. Something must be wrong with the water so post your existing parameters when you get time. Then we'll try to figure out what the test results mean.

Ok so here are the test results

KH-9
GH took 24 drops so whatever that means
Ammonia-0ppm
Nitrate-10ppm
PH-6.8
Nitrite-0ppm

So why would they be having issues, all reading seem with limits?

Your results seem fine. What is the temp?
How did they look when you got home?
Do they look better now?

Have you added anything different or new to the tank lately? Or changed something that you use for or in the tank....like water conditioner?

No everything is the same as it has been, but when I just did my water I saw that one of my canisters flow was low. So i checked the tubes and outlet was kinked so I fixed that. That was the only thing i could find wrong.

I don't know if your filter running with the kink in it could have any kind of effect on the oxygen in the water. Hopefully someone else will take a look at this too. I don't see any of the usual suspect issues that might result in fish breathing heavy. The water change should help with that at least in the short term. I'm wondering if a cut back in filter flow can reduce oxygen in the tank water? If it were me, at this point I'd try to increase the tank aeration. You could use an airstone if you have one, you can lower the water level a couple of inches to create more surface agitation, you could even run an empty HOB on the back just for the extra flow and water movement.

Just one more idea, think back to the last time you used your hands in the tank water or during food handling....could you have had something on your hands that wasn't rinsed off good enough or....as I did accidentally one night....use a knife to slice a veggie when the knife had some medicine residue on it? Go through the routine you did. Any chance anyone else in the house could have put their dirty hands in the water?

I wash my hands before the get into my tanks then I make sure I rinse them very well. So I dont think that was the issue. And the only other person in the house is my wife and she is not a fan of putting her hands in the tanks.
