As my tank slowly takes on more real plants (which are coming along nicely by the way),
I have found that I need to put about 10-15 more pounds of small gravel in my 55 gal tank for more root space.

I'm doing some research and finding that new gravel can mess with my PH level.

My water is just about perfect right now, so the question is:
How do I add more gravel without stressing the fish (PH wise)?

I have my general 40-50 percent water change and vacuuming scheduled for this weekend.
Should I add the gravel while the water is low, or do it when it is full to keep the PH change down?

Thanks...

if your adding the same kind of gravel as the one you have now you shouldnt have any problems.
