The pond with some Triops
i was planning on returning black neon tetras, silvertip tetra, and common pleco. I was also planning on getting 7 more neons, 6 ottos, and a few more plants...
sooo...
my stocking would be
14 neons
6 ottos
common pond snail
betta

how is it? would it look good? overstocked?

also...

since i'm buying and returning on the same day, (i know i asked this before but i forgot the answer...) can i "replace" the fish with ? fish? and maybe 3 more to grow the bacteria culture...

oh and if you can think of a better stock (ex. more colorful, more lively...) can you post it?

This is :OT: but can anyone post fish tanks with the big in back, small in front planting that actually looks good? Either that or it's just that my tank doesn't have a lot of plants...

Hi,

I think that would be okay, but Cories would be more active and prettier (IMO) then Ottos. So you should get six Cories (I like the Three-Striped) (Corydoras trilineatus).

IMO that would be overstocked. you should have 3 otos, 6 neons and 1 betta.

I agree. Cories are much cuter.

I'll post pics of otos and cories and you decide. The cory is the 1st pic.

personally I prefer otos, they are the best little algae eating fish i've ever seen. they are quite cute themselves.

but it comes down to wether or not you want fish to eat old fish food (corys)
or algae (otos).

also, unless you heavily overfeed you are going to need to feed the corys sinking food to make sure they get enough to eat. otos, on the other hand will not need any supplemental feeding as long as algae levels remain adequate.

aww don't start that again! :D

dang only 3 otos and only 6? I can't have 7?

and can't i just feed the otos/cories veggies i would feed my snail?

and can cories replace otos? at my LFS, they only have 1 cory for each species.... probably because they're in a small tank. the ottos come in 7 per tank though....

argh!

if they don't have enough cories for a proper species exclusive school, then get tots insteand. most corys are somewhat carnivorous, otos will eat vegitables, however.
