Need new HOB filter.....

My Penguin 170 just went out on me. I was thinking of getting an Aquaclear. I have heard good things about them. But I have one question....Are Aquaclear's noisy? I have my 20 gallon in my room and the 170 was a little noisy.

I have several AC's, and mine are very quiet. Only time they make noise is when restarting, or if something makes it into the propeller area--seldom, in other words.

I have an AC150 on my 15 gallon tank. The tank is in my room, and I don't tolerate noise when I'm sleeping... so yea, its very quiet. I found it took a day or two to break in, but after that, it was really good.

BTW, what kind of noise was the other one making?

The water trickling, raising the water level was the only way to cure that, but due to evaporation it seemed like I had to add water every couple days to keep the noise down.

BTW Just got back from my local fish store....they wanted $35 for a aquaclear 200, i can get it from Big Als for 19.94 shipped.........
