hey all,
I've got an Eclipse 2 system that came with 2 18" bulbs which from what I gathered are white fluorescent daylight spectrum-type bulbs. My tank is lightly planted and I was looking to replace my bulbs with something that would make my fish stand out a little more....I've been told that the Aquarilux bulbs are pretty good, more of a pinkish color that make fish stand out. If you have any suggestions, I'd be greatful!

Buy a corallife bulb from www.bigals.com a great deal and they have several different kinds of bulbs to fill your request. Mine is a 50/50 blue light that is a year old!

thanks, i will check out the site and end up getting something....im sure. btw, what does it mean when they say Coralife 50/50?? I see lots of people referring to it on here...

50/50 *should* be a high spectrum (white) and actinic (blue). it is more designed for saltwater applications. it might look ok in a regular tank tho, i tried full actinic once and found it to be gloomy. i liked the blue but it did need another bulb to brighten things up, but i'm not sure the salt water "white" bulb would look right.......

my choice for freshwater... hagen i think.... aqua*glo

If they have them in that size... 50/50s look nice but your plants may not do well. You might try to find some 10000K bulbs for a brighter look.
