I don't have planted tanks currently, but think I might like to try something simple.

I have a 55 gal, primarily Groumis, that seem to like their plants floating. In the tank pics here, I see floating plants.

Can anyone suggest an easy, low light floating plant for me? Also a good online source? My only LFS is PetSmart, and their plants never look good.

Thanks

I would avoid duckweed. It is very small and VERY hard to rid yourself of when you try. It will get all over your arm when you reach in your tank.

I like frogbit and salviana but some of these floating plants are illegal as they are on the federal noxious weed list so its something to be aware of. No experience with red root but it sounds cool :)

My Gourami love floating plants. I spawn Trichogaster trichopterus on command pert near with some floating Watersprite or Hornwort and a little drop in PH.

Post your location, I'm sure there is someone local that will give you a little something to get you started.

FYI DuckWeed is extremely invasive!!!

Well, Hello!
You know me from LyreTails MSN group and sold me 5 3 spots. I'm in Smyrna, DE.

They are doing wonderfully, by the way! They fit in perfectly from the 1st day. They just have one plant that they like to push up to the top and play around in it.

I've been looking at the classifieds here for the plants you all have been recommending and like the look frogbit and redroot. I'm keeping a list of the suggestions and trying to look them up to see what they look like.

I am definately taking duckweed off the list.
Where can I find a list of illegal plants?

I thought that might be you.:) Glad to see you made it over to AC.
I trust the Gourami are doing wonderful.
