Need Plant ID

Hey everyone. My friend recently went to a pond near him and found this plant in the pond and recently it has been creating runners. I don't know what the heck it is and I thought it was a terrestrial plant that just happened to sprout under water.

hmm interesting.. not sure which plant it is. Could be some terrestrial, im wondering if the current large plant is in its emersed form, was it found by the shore or under water??
Will be interesting to see how the new runner looks once full grown

all I know is that it looks alot like mint ... that is impossible though

Haha yea this plant is bothering me...
It was found underwater. I'm amazed it's sending out runners. They popped out after a few days he planted the plant.

Where (what part of the world) was this found? Could help others, not me, identify it.
