This year I wanted to do something special for the missus, so I plan to surprise her with a couple of beef hearts for her to cook for us on Valentine's Day. With candy hearts being so overdone, I figure that she'll think its pretty cute and romantic to eat some real heart on Valentine's Day for a change.

The problem is, as I've never eaten heart (and I don't think that she has either), I'm at a loss when it comes to telling her how I would like it cooked. Does anyone out there have a good recipe for beef heart?

Thanks.

okay..first take the beef heart and..

EWWWWWWWWW!

Well you have to make some potatos with them so she can use them tater mitts you got her for Christmas..
Man, how you spoil that girl, I am glad my GF doesnt know you cus you'd steal her right away!! Lucky woman ya got there!

its not much of a recipe ...but i boil them & sprinkle a little salt on it
you can also throw a few spices of your choice (i prefer Dinosaur BBQ's cajun foreplay & cayan pepper) & some worstishire sauce in w/ a little water & butter & cook it down... im not much help :silly:

hahahah there are so many points to this point that i just find hysterical...first...its valentine's day, LETS EAT THE HEART OF A COW (/zombie voice). Then...hey i want to do something special for my wife. Here sweetheart, cook this for me. :D anyway....let us know how it goes.

Just search a few recipe sites. You have to be careful to differentiate between recipes for human food and recipes for discus food though :p

Discus recipe...
remove all fat from beef heart.
Cut into 1" cubes.
freeze cubes...
Grate while frozen .
store frozen grated beefheart.
thaw and serve.

serves 8-10 duscus..

I heard that beef heart is best (and most romantic) when served raw, but just slightly above room temperature. It really shows you care to put the attention in to serve it before any flies land. It's all about timing and showing your loved one that you truly care.
