Need some advice please...

Well I transferred everything slowly from my 10 gallon to my 30 gallon this includes some gravel, driftwood, plants, fish, heater, and both filters. One is a whisper something or other that came with the tank and the other is a Aquaclear mini I believe it is called. (for up to 20 gallons)

I am getting a 1-2 ppm ammonia reading, 0 nitrIte and 5-10 NitrAte. Is this due to a mini cycle. I added ammolock I believe that it is called...it was in the box of crap I got with the tank as well since I wasn't sure if the ammonia level was at a harmful level.

The only thing other than the tank that is 'new' is the 3/4 of the gravel and the 28 or so gallons of water I put in to fill the darn thing.

Does the ammolock give a false reading? I was using API liquid kits so I am not sure if that brand tests differently?

Yes you are going through a mini cycle do daily water change to keep the ammonia down

yes Amo-lock will give you a false positive as it changes the ammonia to a safe form of ammonia.
 
I'm surprised you are getting that reading for ammonia, after what you have written. But, yeah, it sounds like mini-cycle.

me too especially since I never went through a mini cycle with my 10 and everything was new including the filter. All i added with that was some gravel from my 5 g.lol so this tank is confusing me.
If the ammolock converts the ammonia to a safe form then a water change today wont be necessary since I just added the ammolock this morning?
I believe it says to add every 2 days so I would assume that by Tuesday I am either going to be good as gold and 0 ammonia or I am going to have to do a 50% wc and add more ammolock?
I also used prime yesterday, doesn't that detoxify ammonia?
