I like! :) How do you clean the sand?? Or do you need to? Never worked with sand so I'm curious

So I'm tired of plastic plants and I want to add some live plants into my tank. I've heard a lot of talk about fertilizers and co2 and what have you. My question is does every planted tank require all of this? Is there not any low maintenance plants that I can put in my tanks? One is a 5g and the other is a 12g. They both have florescent lights-I think 15 watts. I dont have enough time to mess with fertilizers and all that but would still like to enjoy a planted tank! What do you all think?

1) find out exactly what type of lighting you have, not what you think. Is it a 15W with temp between 6500k-10000k. Also does the lightning have a reflector directing the light to the tank?

2) 15W is bare minimum i would say, those guys with 75G tanks may have the same WPG ratio as you but in reality they have far more watts than you.

3) with 15W lighting over a 5G, you dont need ferts nor co2. Just get some anubias nana, and tie it to a driftwood, and wola you have real plants. With such a small tank, you can get a few anubias nana and it would fill up the entire space and look pretty good. Those are very hardy, we call them "plastic" plants...
