I want to start a planted tank, I have started stocking the tank. I bought a amazon sword I think, but what type of lighting to I need? The light that is in the tank put off a purpleish color, which makes the fish look great but doesn't provide great light

Do you know the wattage of the light?

Best plants to start with are java fern/moss, crypts, anubias, vallis, anacharis, pennywort, hornwort...do not require a lot of light nor Co2 or ferts.

I went and got a auqaglow bulb, which is made for planted tanks and freshwater tanks.

You want to shoot for around 2 watts per gallon on your tank. You will probably need to upgade or modify your hood since you only have 20w now.

Ok what type of hood should I go with than, becasue I was looking to replace the light anyway.
