I think some of my cadinal have ich, right now i just put 40 drops
of Nox ich (brand name) into my 100 gals tank (1/2 dose) for cadinal. Is this brand o.k or there are other brand name is better.
thanks

guppies if you have clown loaches.corydoras or any scaless fish you need to be careful what meds you use for ick.I use Copper Safe by Mardel in my tanks that have my loaches and corys...........I don`t know of the brand you use but never cut the doses unless the label tell you too.Always follow the instructions.

I agree, never drop the dose in half unless the label says you can. It is like when you take antibiotics, taking a half dose can sometimes do more harm than good.

I use a product that I have found very sucessful called Cure-Ick. It has 1/2 dose recommendations for tetras. But make sure you are taking the carbon out of your filter before treating. With carbon in the filter it will rid the water of the medication within 24 hours. 48 hours after final treatment replace the carbon.

Thanks you for the respone, I look into that cure-ick, it say use 10 drops per gal of water, i hope is not a misprint. i have to check out the local fish store in canada see they carry them. thanks for the information.
but i still don't know why my cadinal have ick, i haven't change water for 4 - 5 days, and the temp should be very stable.
Hope they are better when i get home from work today.

Your very welcome, I know ick is a common problem that most fish owners have faced. Though it isn't a misprint, I let my mother borrow it for her 29 gal. tank when all of her fish became ill with ick, it cured all of the fish with 2 treatments, approximatly 48 hours.
The lable reads:
Directions: Shake well. Before using, remove any carbon from the filer, no need to discontinue filtration. Use 10 drops per gallon (or 1 capful per 10 gallons) every 24 hours for a maximum of 3 days.
FOR TETRAS:
Use 5 drops per gallon (or 1 capful per 20 gallons) every 24 hours for a maximum of 3 days. 48 hours after final treatment replace filter carbon.
WARNING:
Do not use on Baby Whales oe Elephant Nose. Do not use with invertebrates or living rock. Do not exceed recommended dosage. May stain silicon sealent.
Active ingredients:
Malachite Green
Formalin

Anyway hope this is helpful.
