As you know Im a student...bluh...but today I need your help. We are studing Romeo and Juliet. You know the two people who like each other but the parents dont agree. But now I need a modern expamle of this. I need a couple from any media that reminds you about this. (songs, books, art, Tv, movies, videos, ect) I cant think of any because I dont watch this stuff. The musical West Side Story is a modernization of R and J. That should get you through. Remember that instead of the Montagues and Capulets it is gang based. The character Tony (white guy) was Romeo and loosely a member of the Jets. The character Maria (latina) was Juliet and her brother was a Shark. I can't remember the names of any of the other characters except officer Krupke.

Don't know if this will help but... You've probably heard of the famous feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys. The 20 year long feud was ended when one of the Hatfields married one of the McCoys. Not the tragic ending of the Bard, but similar in the fact that there is a love struck couple whose familes are at bitter odds. Maybe a quick search on Google would turn up more details.
