I am becoming, well, bored with my 30 gal. community set up. And so I am trying to think of a fish that could work in a species tank that does well in high ph/hardness and also can do fine with some plants...
Need something different for my tank...

:grinyes: if you need something for interest put an oscar in and whach them getting eaten that interesting:grinno:
up it to 6 or 8 gbrs it really brings out their character, heavily plant it, make some caves they may even spawn
I'm afraid that I don't have enough water movement...
They are pretty hardy right? And not too picky with pH/hardness when it comes to breeding?
My tap is around 8...not and soft enough for gbr's to breed. Also I don't have a lot of hiding spots as of right now, mostly open space...
i have cherry barbs in a ph of 8 and so far so good...they are really active and fun to watch. i second the vote for cherry barbs. I believe you are supposed to have more females than males ( ihave 4 females to 2 males) but I am not sure how very important this is, but I have noticed the males are quite frisky and do like to chase each other and the females alot.
