also, figured there is space between glass and divider ends so maybe thats how as i saw mts go through there 1mm size, so i assume that is it

am trying again in a 10G EXCEPT i'll PUT the DIVIDER IN FIRST before pouring in substrate, hopefully that works...
 
Attempt 2

started a 10G, placing the divider BEFORE adding substrate, and there is no gap between divider and glass. added 5 blue pearls on 1 side and 3 fire reds on the other...that way i can easily notice if they mix up through still as they are opposite colors

lets see if it works:D
 
I would recommend a divider with reinforced plastic and no holes. I think you can get them custom made.
 
I may have missed it, but...
Shrimp can climb and survive out of the water for a while.
If you're counting on a divider to keep genetics pure - you can stop. The shrimp will be happy to climb up and over.
