I have a 29 gallon tank. I had several fish and went through the process of quarantining all of them.

I made the mistake of putting a new plant in the tank. After I put the plant in the tank 4 platies, 1 zebra danio9of crooked spine), and a dwarf powder blue gourami(not dead yet) died.

I cannot put my nearly dead gourami in the quarantine tank because of fish I have in there. I got them over a month ago!!!! They are still in there because of the sickness in the main tank.

So I wanted to know what fish I should get when I figure all this stuff out.

I will have 6 zebra danios, 2 glowlight tetras, 3 corys.

I was thinking GUPPIES!(I love them) and what else would you recommend?

OH! and before anyone asks... these are my test results usuing a LIQUID test kit.

ammonia: 0
pH:7.6
nitrite:0
nitrate:10

and the tank is almost 4 months old.

i don't see how the plant could have cause the deaths? Maybe at that time your ammonia/nitrite levels were higher?

As for other fish, get some more glowlight tetras and cories (so you have about 6 of each, or more). I'd be careful with guppies as the danios may nip their fins (this happened to my male guppy, but the female is doing fine.). Maybe get some peaceful dwarf cichlids like blue rams, maybe another small school of tetras/rasboras and a 'centrepiece fish' like a pair of gouramis. There are all sorts you could add, but be careful about guppies.

ok. I REALLY like Blue Rams but I don't think that my LFS has them. I'll check when I go today.

I just thought since the plant was in a tank with fish at the LFS it could have carried a disease...
