I was looking for suggestions to stock a 49 gallon upright tank. I prefer peacefull fish, and was looking to put in an even amount of bottom, middle and top dwellers. I like tetras, plecos and guppies.

I currently have 4 red tetras, 5 neons, 1 glass catfish, 1 pleco albino bristlenose, and 1 blue mystery snail.

Suggestions?

more glass cats they need to be in groups they like the company of their own kind

1 red belly pirhannah. dont worry it will get along great with your other fish lol.

how about some corys? or maybe oto cats? or you could have some cherry shrimp. mollies. a personal fav of mine would have to be the african featherfin catfish. at $15 there a little pricey but they are well worth the money. i love the tall shark like fin on their back.

I was thinking of getting more glass catfish. This oen does socialize with the other fish. Would I be able to add some glass fish too? Do the glass fish and glass catfish school togehter?

I believe the red tetras are called serpia tetras. I'm probably not spelling it right.

Is there a difference between an otto catfish and a pleco? Do they feed off of different things?

Heya Nip. I'd have to agree with everyone else on this one. The serapae and neon tetras, as well as the glass cats could all use some more numbers. I'd aim for 5-7 of the cats and serapaes, and 9 or 11 of the neons (i think they look better in odd numbers). Oto cats are suckermouths like the plecos, but are generally much smaller and make up their own genus. Pleco is a catchall term for the larger suckermouths generally. For upper strata interest, maybe some golden wonder, epiplatys, or fundlopanchax killies, or hatchets. I wouldn't trust your serapaes with gouramis. As for the bottom, a small school of cories would be perfect.
