Hello all... :)

I am starting a project wherein I will need to fill (with hopefully 3 tanks) a space that will "total" 129". The 2-3 aquariums should be no deeper than 18", but ultimately... they should be narrower... (I have 20.5" of clearance to the walls behind and might want to use a powerfilter). These aquariums best case... should be tall... and preferably one's I can use in a sump tank or two situation.

These three aquariums (could be two if I have no other choice) will sit inside a custom built wall unit that is 20" deep....) I cant change the depth because it is an extension of an existing built in entertainment system.

I know this is a tall order and I will be asking for a lot of help along the way.. but this is the first step in the project.

These will be salt tank (marine) when the project is complete.

It will be magnificent when completed as I envision and will provide pics etc along the way...

First order of business is finding tanks.

PS... Custom would be great, but I have a budget :(

Thanks,

Rich

Just wanted to add that I am confused about overflow tanks etc... if I am using a sump type system... this will be necessary versus a good old fashion tank?

If I am understanding you correctly & you don't mind having an extra 3" left over on the length you could go with 2 - 55g & 1 29g. Those are some of my least favorite size tanks because of the short distance front to back but for your situation they would work well and are VERY easy to find sizes used so it's good for your budget. :) Just a quick thought.

There are a lot of odd sized tanks out there though, I suggested those because they are normal and common. There are also 60g that are the same length and depth as 55 but a little taller as an example, if you look around you never know what you can find.

If you want a sump you will need overflow boxes other than that I'll leave that area of questioning to someone else. :D

Well I am convinced 140talls are the way to go and to have two, rather than three.

Now to the sump situation.

I am a complete newbie... other than once upon a time having a successful marine aquarium many years ago. It was a tank versus a sump system. I want to go all the way and tie all of this water together... ie: two 140Talls and a sump. In terms of the sump my only issue will be depth.. cannot exceed 20". and the tanks are 18... so I cant have more than three inches... net.... hanging off or plumbing fixtures behind.... make sense?

Thanks,

Rich

Help with Show Tanks Wall System - Filtration Design Experts!

Hi and thanks in advance.

I have another thread here regarding Tanks for a custom wall system. This new setup will fit inside of an extension to my custom built in entertainment system and should be awesome when complete...

It extends my built in by 143 inches... or almost 12 feet.

There will be two tanks in the display wall... both or 120H's 60 X 18 X 27 (Perfecto)... I have the option right now to order them with corner-overflows... I am hoping once this thread gets started that will be come clearer to me. I have the perfect setup to hide all equipment... keep in mind that I have 21" of depth only!!!!! so hang ons could be an issue since the tanks are 18" themselves.

Ok.. all that being said...

I want the highest quality setup I can afford! My budget above and beyond tanks is approximately $1500 for filtration, etc.

I don't think these tanks are deep enough for reef tanks... but perhaps marine fish tanks?

I love goldies... they are my passion... but I thought I'd try something new... but, not necessarily... since I am open to anything at this point... anything colorful!

I have a 60T goldie tank and a 110T goldie tank running in the same room now.

Suggestions, direction...???

I am not sure I am skilled enough to do salt... though, I have limited successful experience many years ago.

I guess I am thinking that if I can get the greatest fresh setup for my budget, I will do fresh!

In you suggestions... be very elaborate in terms of filtration, gravel, lighting... and DO I NEED CORNER OVERFLOWS? Could save a lot here that could be used on other equipment for the setup... rememeber my clearance issues though.

Thanks a million everyone...

I hope I can return the favor with experience someday!

Regards,

Rich
