Hi all, haven't been here in months. I have a 75 gl fowlr. We just set up a 35 recently and it houses my first damsel and my valentinie puffer for now. We took him out of the big tank when we put our shrimp in, because we thought he would eat him. In my big tank I have a yellow tang, blue hippo tang, 2 clown fish, a scooter blenny, an emerald green crab, 11 plus snails and a missing hermit crab.
Let me back up and tell a tale of murder. Couple months back we had 2 emerald green crabs, a cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp and a very territorial bossy coral banded. The cleaner shrimp had been the last one added, but the other two had already lived together and then I noticed the coral banded being nasty and my fire shrimp hiding. So in the end, the last man standing was the coral banded. The cleaner disappeared first, then the fire shrimp was getting eaten by the coral banded. I tried to save him, took the coral banded out and put the fire back in not knowing that the crab would now eat him. needless to say, the coral banded went back to the store and we have been shrimpless. AND my little emerald green crab also died.
So we decided to get a new shrimpy
Now, my tang likes to be cleaned by him and he cleaned both my tang and my hippo (who was introduced to the tank the same day). This morning, all that remains is his corpse :mad2: I thought maybe he molted, blah blah blah but I dont' think that is the case and I need to figure out WHO the  is.
As far as my water goes, we don't check it regularly and we dont' mess with the tank at all and everything has worked out well. We do have alot of algae, but I"ve read it is a sign of good nutrition in the water but we also have some black algae and I'm not sure if we should take all the stuff out and clean it or what?
Anyway we love our tank and are looking into a larger corner tank. Knock on wood we've had no problems aside from a murderer. I'm still never sure of which fish should go with which but.. So who is it??? Who is doing this to my shrimps?
