Need to move a tank 3"

I have a 30 gallon, planted, community freshwater tank. I just got a new filter and realized it is deeper than my old filter. I need to slide my tank 2-3" further away from the wall.

I'm hoping I don't have to drain it entirely down but guessing that is what I'm going to have to do. The base is a very sturdy wood base and it is on hard wood floors so I may be able to slide it once it is a bit lighter. The tank w/water weights about 300 lbs.

should be able to do that .... just lift one side and shift it out and then do the other side...i recently did this with my 55 gallon with no problems. good luck
 
No need to drain the water... I would simply pick up one end of it a bit and move it.. I have moved a 55G tank by myself completely full of water a few inches.. but then again im not sure how large/strong you are.

also.. I put those plastic things for moving furniture underneath everything these days- probably benefical for a big tank as well
 
yeah i agree with whats been said. drain out most of the water and very slowly and carefully move your tank.
 
You should be able to slide it out from the wall, one side at a time, if you drain about half the water. I have moved a 55 gallon away from the wall on my tile floor this way in the past and was able to do it by myself. Just take it slow and you should be fine. :)
 
I would advise against moving a full tank. You may be lucky, but glass under pressure can just go.
