When the angels vacate my tank in a couple weeks (which couldn't come sooner, they're driving me and my other fish nuts), and when I finally resolve my water issues (long story), I'm going to need something for my tank that doesn't live in the bottle 1/3-1/2 of my tank.

Right now, between the shrimp and snails and tetras (which for whatever reason love the bottom 1/2 of the tank), there is little in terms of inhabitants of the upper regions (besides my roommates 2 angels, but like I said they're thankfully going back to his tank in a couple weeks).

I had a betta, but he passed away several months ago. Since then I haven't really looked for a replacement, but I'd like to find something. Obviously I could go with another betta, but I'd like to try something different.

Not sure what though. Not another schooling fish. Maybe a pair or a threesome or something like that. Gouramis maybe? I dunno, any suggestions are welcome :grinyes:

Zebras and Hatchet fish,

all the balloon mollies i've ever seen are top half swimmers. and they'd do very well with your other fish, i think.

For those that are recommending mollies and Pearl Gouramis----the tank is only 15gals.

Way too big for this tank. Stick with zebras and hatchets.

Yep, any kind of danio usually sticks to the top. My pearls even more so than the zebras. You would have to get more than 2 though or they would fight.
