Looks like i will be getting my brothers setup.
Rena xp4 Filter

He currently has since juvies.
1 Oscar grown to 4"
1 Green Terror grown to 4-5"
1 Pike Cichlid grown to 5"
1 Pleco Grown to 5-6"

So far there has been no issues what so ever..
Is this still doable as a bio load?

Spoke to my brother last night.

Correction, it's a Rena XP2 and some sort of an in tank filter

I'm seriously thinking of not taking this deal.
I would have to pull out the xp2, and purchased 2 XP3.
Of course I would use the XP2 media because of the b Bacteria but I really don't have the cash to buy 2 XP3s right now.

It's the filter that's pulling me away from taking everything.
Though he does have an awesome Pike Cichilds which was hard to come by.. The things is 6 inches long now

What to do ..what to do

Your tank setup is fine but you need to fix your stocking. Would drop the green terror and the pike. An oscar needs a 75 for itself but a pleco can share the space. You could also do a green terror with a pleco. What species of pike cichlid is it? If I know, I could tell you what other fish can go with it in a 75.

I don't know the species of the Pike, but it does like to stay close to the bottom under a rock. He stays in his cave most of the time.
He said if I take him, make sure I get him a home he can stay in.. I don't like having a fish that would hide most of the time.

What if I got ride of the Green Terror & the Oscar, keep the Pike Ciclhid & the pleco, would that work? Would that make the Pike to come out? or has he been programmed to stay in the cave and will never come out?

He is most likely going to be programmed to stay in the cave. Yes, the pleco could share is space. One method that works (sometimes) with getting timid fish to come out is adding dither fish. Doesn't always work, but when the dither fish (usually giant danios, tinfoil barbs, very fast fish that school) are out schooling it is a sign that it is ok to come out of hiding. I have this problem with my breeding paid of JDs who hide a lot, I would put dither fish in there but when they breed I would have to sell them (don't have space elsewhere).

Another reason fish sometimes hide is if another fish in the tank has claimed dominance or territory. They continually run the other fish around the tank and out of the dominant fishes territory causing the less dominant to hide. To try to fix this, usually rearranging can work. Sometimes only for a little while, but they have to set up new territories when their tank isn't the same. Or you could get rid of the bully haha.

In regards to the fish you are keeping.... What they said about the Oscar is 100%, they can get 15" or so, and require much space. A pleco can usually share space with anything, just keep in mind some species can reach close to 30".

Let us know what you decide to do (if anything) and give us some pictures!

it's probably best if I get ride of the Bullies aka Green Terror and the Oscar.
Maybe then with his new home, he can come out.. What if I don't get him a cave, would he stress out? It will be just be him and the pleco?
What kind of structure will be needed? Planted? or maily rock?
I guess the pleco will need a piece of drift wood?

Still trying to find out what Pike Cichlid he has

Here's the description

Body color light green, no visible markings
Tail white color tips
Dorsal fin Red tipped
Red eyes
Black spot behind the gills with a white ring

I will get ride of the Oscar, Green Terror and maybe the Pleco.
Is there another bottom/algea feeder that will be safe with the Pike Cichlid?

not really. You need a big bottom feeder with armor because if not the pike will probably eat him or pick on him until he gets too stressed and could possibly die.

I feel you can get rid of the cave if it's only going to be the pike and the pleco. Because then the entire tank will be the pikes territory. Just throw in some aesthetics to make the tank look better.
