Needing help with my 55

Syryjac: Definatley listen to Roan, she really know's what she is talking about (not that others don't....they do) but she was who I was hoping would chime in when I told you to come here!
BTW I agree your tanks are GREAT Roan!

I can tell she knows what she's doing!!!!!! I'm so glad to have her help!! I'm testing my water again. Wish me luck!! :troll:

Well now I've woke up to find one of my two mollies floating all around the tank. I'm worried cause it looked like her fins were jagged and my silver dollars look that way to. None of them have been fighting at all that I"ve seen. Could it be fin rot? If so the book I have says that as long as there isn't white or gray around it , it isn't infected. I hope they are fine. It's strange though cause it seemed to have happened out of nowhere to all three of them yesterday. Is that contagious? I'm down to only my pleco, one mollie, three platys, a swordtail, two silvers and a cory. I still luckily have all four frogs and all my ghost shrimp. This is very sad....

Hey Everyone,

I have noticed that my Morton Table Salt says it doesn't contain Iodide. Is that needed to treat my ich?? Thanks Again

Fin rot from stress, high ammonia and nitrites et al. The salt should help with that a little and keeping the ammonia and nitrites down will too.

Yes, Morton's is fine. Iodide or non, both are good. I use both.

Hello! I am curious about using a rubbermaid container. When I get my tank cycled and this ich taken care of I am definately going to have somewhere for my new fish to stay for a couple weeks to make sure they are well before I let them in my 55. I didn't know if they need to be in a tank or if they can stay in a container that long. I'm just wondering about the whole cycling thing again. That's what scares me about using a container. I'm trying to not spend alot now, that's why I thought about trying this. I realize I would need a pump so they get plenty of oxygen. I don't know maybe I just need a tank!!
