:help: I am a new guy here and trying to find out what I can about needle fish. I guess I am specifically looking for anyone who has successfully bred them. I have never INTENTIONALLY bred them or ANY other fish although I have kept fish all my life and currently have five tanks in my home. Anyway, I guess I have what should be referred to as a breeding pair of Needlenose Gar fish. They have had babies twice now since I got them but none have survived. The first batch caught me TOTALLY shocked and unprepared. I had nothing to feed them and that was that.
Last week I had batch number two, about 40 fry and I thought I was ready, but again they all died. I had gone out and purchased a net breeder and a brine shrimp hatchery. As soon as I noticed the fry I seperated them into the net breeder and set up the hatchery but they take 24-40 hours to hatch. By that time over half my fry were dead, and though I attempted to feed the remainder, they all also died over the course of the next two days.
My two main questions are did anyone know they are live bearers, and since they only eat live food does anyone know what else to try to feed them?
