what's the difference between these 2 fishes?

The cardinal tetra has the red and blue stripe running the entire length of the body. The neon only has the blue run the entire length, the red half way and the belly is white. Very patriotic! Well, for those of us with red, white, and blue in our nations flag anyway!
They're both similar in "brightness" and opinions vary on which is better looking!

yep! those are the physical differences! cardinals got red stipes
neons got the white stripe on the belly -
are there any other differences though?

Cardinals usually are shipped into stores when they are smaller but they get to be larger then Neons. about 2-2 1/4 inches. They like their water temp at about 84-85 deg F.

Neons only get to be about 2 inches. water temp about 78 deg f.

Other then the other physical differences that's really it. Cardinals are really good in Discus tanks. Neons are good in (most) community tanks.

Cardinals are brighter, hardier and larger than neons. They also help save the rainforest. See Project Piaba
