I have been seeing some new corys come into a LFS. They have a "floresent" green strip along the back. If not for the strip it looks like a "bronze" cory (Aneus??) I have also see some with a golden strip. Are these new kinds or dyed somehow??

I don't believe those are dyed- I thought it was a new color morph of C. aeneus from South America?
But I went just now to look it up and could not find a reference (in my 5am state of mind anyway) so now I wonder as well.

I have seen dyed albino ones in the stores around these parts. The ones I saw had their tail ends dyed bright green or blue.

These do look like Aeneus but have either a green strip or gold strip on sides. The strip runs along the back below dorsal fin, from behind head to base of tail. Do not look "painted".

The gold strip ones have an over-all "goldish" color and the green strip have an over-all "greenish" color.

Anyone else have an idea??

Most of the ones I've seen are C. aeneus. Planet Catfish has some nice pics of some of the different morphs. They are nice looking fish, too bad they're so spendy around here...

PumaWard:

Yes-- Looks like Aeneus "Orange" and "Peru". THX.

Nice site!!!
