I've quarantined a new neon tetra after he's started to exhibit the symptoms of neon tetra disease. His stomach is very bloated, and though he's zipping all over the tank (restlessness?) occasionally he appears to lose equilibrium temporarily. I bought him in a batch of 3, and the first two died already, but I can't say from what as it just occured overnight the first night I bought them. I would probably say it's due to being Wal-mart fish, and before I get a lecture on Walmart fish, please let me say that I have have learned my lesson.
It could be stress, so I don't want to put him down but I have other beautiful tetras that I don't want to get neon tetra disease.
How long do I need to banish this poor fish until I know what his problem is? What's the pass/fail marker for neon tetra disease?
One other stupid question... The only bowl I had to quarentine him in is a white glass pyrex bowl. Not having clear glass around him won't freak him out, will it?
Thank you for your help.
