I have 4 neon tetras in a small tank; these tetras often hide a lot from view behind the decorations in my tank. I find that when a tetra which has been hiding shyly for a long time is "flushed out" of its hiding place, its blue stripe is very dark at first, almost a purplish blue. After the tetra gains confidence and ventures out into the foreground, its main stripe becomes a more greenish blue. Does anyone notice this as well?

Mine are always swimming around out in the open showing bright blue and red. I do noticew that at night if I come into the study after all the lights and they are sleeping they are almost gray. They brighten up as soon as they wake up and start moving around.
