I just noticed that my neon's have the beginnings of ich. Thought that I would ask for treatment advice before running out and buying chemicals. Is there a non-medical treatment? If not, what is preferred brand of medicine?

Do a sreach on this forum and you will find a lot of great info on the salt treatment for ich. It in combination with raising the tanks temp is a tried and true treatment for many.

or you could use mela-fix that stuff has natural ingredients a bit expensive, but I heard it's great stuff.
Mela fix does not work on ich at all. It's for bacteria, not parasites.

I read up and treated with heat and salt. The white spores were off the neons by last night. I am keeping up the salinity until Wednesday. Frankly this is an easy miracle cure. Amazing.

I'm glad it worked for you, just remember that sometimes the ich can be "tough" and you just have to be extra dilligent with the treatment.

Are you sure. The article on this forum says 3 days. I was thinking that I would not want that extra salinity for too long.

Yes, I'm sure. You may see no spots, but ich prefers the gills where you can't see them. If you treat for seven days after the spots *you can see* disappear, then you'll know you've gotten all the ich in the gills as well.

I was sure it was in Dave's article. If it is he'll probably see this and tell us where it is. If not, he'll probably update it.
