I have just finished cycling my 10 gallon. I have a Ph of about 7.5-8. I've read that neons like acidic water, so should I not purchase neons? If not, what could I get for my setup?

that is pretty high, but neons are all captive bred nowadays so don't really need a acidic pH. they wil probably be fine.

6.5 is what they are supposed to like, but hey i think the last time i checked my 55g was at 7.5 so really they will be fine (ya got more things to worry about then ur pH when it comes to getting new fish)

Well my pH is over 8 and I have neons - mind you I also have trouble with the little ****es off and on. Lost a few lately, but that wasn't the pH...

6.2 they are doing fine. in my humble opinion, despite being captive bred, most fish are better in natural conditions in tanks. take mollies foe example, CB also, but can still be acclimated to full SW like thier wild counterparts.

just my 2 cents worth.

btw, neons may be finicky, but i would think this is due to poor breeding conditions

I wouldn't recommend neons at that ph, but its worth a shot. Many are bred in areas with high phs these days, so it might work. Just keep a close eye on them, and make sure the ph doesn't get to high.

Well, you are sometimes stuck with whatever water you have, and I've had neons and other tetra for years in pH 8 water... They appear to do well. Killed more with bad bloodworm than hard water lately... Ahh well.
