nerite snails

Nope. Ever since Olive Nerites have become so readily available, I've lost a lot of interest in breeding them. I'm sure the information is still on a forum somewhere, I've just forgotten which one.

I think there is something on Tom Barr's forum. I know he said he found alot in florida that were landlocked and no where near any brackish or saltwater.

thebullit , A few weeks after I got my olive nerite and put her into mine I noticed eggs everywhere and they did hatch. Its been since march that they started hatching and they are still free swimming larvae. They have gotted bigger and a little more vsisble though. If you find out how long this larvae stage lasts would you let me know. I'm going crazy wondering if these tiny things will ever turn to snails.I am very interested if you have success in breeding as well! Thanks!

If they've been alive for a month, then you just might have success. :thm: What are water parameters?

iam not to sure on the length of time they stay in this floating stage as i havnt breed these YET.;o) nor can i find any info on it. i have read that they will float for about 4 days but a pinch of salt comes to mind.

My ph is 7.6. temp stays at 76-80 degrees F not sure about the rest.I do a quarter to 50 percent water changes once a week or once every 2 weeks. I have 2 black skirt tetras 4 briggs, one olive nerite, 1 pleco, and a few ramshorns. before the briggs came (a few weeks ago) I added one tbsp of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I don't add the salt anymore as I have read that briggs do not like any salt but then read that they can handle it. I just thought I would stay on the safe side. lol don't want any loses. I also treat the water for chlorine and hard metals. There is a woman named Wilma Duncan that has bred olive nerites with good success. I emailed her but never got a response. I will try her again though. I really hope we can find more info or others that have bred them with success. I will keep searching!

Isn't she the same person who refuses to divulge how she bred her nerites?
