Hi Guys:

I just bought a 10G tank, priarily to be used as a quarantine tank. I bought a new 75G tank and am transferring all fish and equipment to the new 75G tank.

Since I do not have the old filter for cycling, I am going to add all the gravel (at least temporarily) and water in the new 10G tank to help i cycle. I will only add 1 or 2 fish initially.

Do you guys think the gravel holds enough bacteria to prevent a spike in the new 10G tank, do you have any other suggestions/solutions.

As always, thanks in advance for all your help...you guys are great!!

Great question! I'm also interested in learning about cycling a quarantine tank.

Peace...

That should kick the cycle off but check your water chems just to be safe.Do you have
any filter media you could use? Generaly you don't really cycle a Q tank if you know you are going to use quarantine(and good for you) you should have either a spare filter or seeded media you can just add to the QT filter and your golden.-Anne

All my tanks have at least 2 filters (an air driven sponge and an Aquaclear with dual sponges)So if I need a QT/HOSP tank I can either swap the air driven sponge or a sponge from the Aquaclear and its insty cycled
