I have a few questions about the 125 gallon I'm about to purchase... Its going to be $300 for the tank and stand (the tank has a few small scratches) I'm wondering if I can buff them out? Its glass... also the back may not have scratches, but its covered in spray paint... how would I get that paint off if I wanted to just switch it around? Also the tank was treated with metronidazole (for cichlids)... I was wondering if this was harmful to corals and inverts if its leached from the silicone? Just a few questions... need to make sure this is worth my money!

Well I just bought my brand new 125 for 230 and 80 for a steel stand which I modified to fit my sump and equipment. 125's are pretty cheap, I would ask around first

Glass scratches can be buffed out, but I would have it done professionally to minimize the impact. Depending on the paint used, you may be able to just peel it off. Acrylic comes off glass easily this way. I would shop around--you may be able to find a new one for less.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic, and should not impact future use of the aquarium. You will want to verify that copper has not been used, but most antibiotics rinse free and do not later leach out.

Personally, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a used tank that has scratches, etc. Even buying new, the tank itself will end up being the least expensive part of your setup once you consider lights, LR, plumbing, etc. On a tank that size, I would start off on the "right foot" with a reef ready tank that's drilled with overflows.

I don't know where you guys are from... but a 125 here costs well over 500 dollars (i've seen them for 1000 in some places)... The scratches are hardly noticeable, and there is a chance that I can just turn it around... other people seem to think its a good deal.

I didn't mean to imply that it's not a good deal. It all depends on what you want to end up with and how much work you can do yourself. Once a 125 in is place and full, you can't do much work to it!! I'd prefer to start out with a tank that's new, leak tested, ready to go and properly set up for a sump system, even if it's 4 times what you are paying for yours. That's actually what I'm going through now.......saving up my pennies for a ready to rock 125 ;)

it just seemed like you guys were getting 125's for that price and I'm just like how are you doing that????? hahah... anyway... it doesn't leak, the guy has had it for a few years and has fish and water in it now. So I guess I'm alright to go... not sure what you are pointing out on the link... no petlands around here either, so I guess I'm out of luck if there is a good deal there.
