I set up a 14 gallon Oceanic BioCube on Friday 3/09/07. I put 15 lbs live rock in from the LFS that was cured. I am sure I had some die off because it was 1.5 hours before I could get home and get the tank set up. The rock was packed in wet newspaper and did not dry out as far as I could tell.
I put about 2" of CaribSea Live Aragonite sand in the bottom of the tank last night. I removed as much sand from the rock as I could tell last night and again this morning by creating waves with a plastic spatula (high tech I know). I am going to get a turkey baster on my way home to make this easier.
My questions are: When is the appropriate time to put in a cleaning crew? What crew should I put in this 14g? My daughter insists on a "Nemo", so that will end up in the tank as well as a goby to help sand sifting. I would like to have some corals, zoos, etc in the final tank months from now, as well as a total of 3-4 fish over a long period of time if levels allow.
My levels were all good when I checked last night before adding the sand. I am sure I have some more time for the cycle to complete, but I was wondering how some cleaners would fare.
