New 180 gallon upgrade from 65 gallon freshwater

well then Mr. I-know-everything-and-im-too-sensitive, if you think that the people trying to help you are being rude and heartless, then stop asking us to help. most members here have MUCH more aquatic experiance than you, so listen. some may sound harsh, but its for the best. and if you know this so-called experienced fish keepers, why didnt he/she help you?
thankyou very much :).

Did i ever say i knew it all, did you even read the whole thread, and what business is it of yours i wasn't even talking to you so buzz off with your "Aussie Pride" move it on down the road because its crowdin' my Texas Pride. I am a very open minded person and i take all advice with a grain of salt so don't tell me im too sensitive when all you people do is is pick pick pick and give mixed, convoluted advice. If your just going to beat me to death for trying and failing then blow it out your blow holes. Guess if i need i laugh i may come back here but until then ill stick with the good people at my Aquarium and FishLore, YOU PEOPLE ARE THE KNOW IT ALLS WHY DONT YOU TRY TO HELP INSTEAD OF NAG! Closing this thread later.

Wow 14 posts in and ac is condemned.

I would have dropped a thought or two to try to help the person, but. it seems that they have decided that no one on here knows anything about aquaria.

One thought I would drop is this if the op happens to look at the thread.

Hey OP. The very funny thing about this hobby is everyone comes up with things that work for them and is willing to share the details. I would think that they are not trying to confuse you in any way rather they are trying to help you.

I have found that prime is actually a very solid product. If I had gotten here before you decided that the forum was worthless, I would have given you this thought.

Get some seachem stability and use that to crank your tank into the safety zone for your fish.

As for prime, here is how I use the stuff. Before I do a water change I dose the tank with the amount required to condition the water I will be putting back in. I usually do a 50% w/c. So lets take my 230g. I add in 2 caps so as to condition 100g, I do this so that that stuff get a good chance to mix with the water and is well dispersed when I add the new water back in. Then as I am adding in the new water I add 2 more caps to in a sense give it a 150% dose.

I also make sure to move the substrate around in my tanks on a regular basis to release any trapped gases. Though I do that when the water is being drained so that the stuff released is not in the fresh water column.

Ah...I hate those "quick cure" medications. The only thing that's absolutely going to help is water changes and bump in continued aeration. I constantly aerate my tanks with 1.5-2x the amount of aeration per gallons of water in the tank because I'm overly ocd about my water quality. Have you checked into seachem products for ph and other variable stability? Your tank sounds like it's cycling unnecessarily...or it pushed itself into a mini-cycle.

P.s. Please don't come to this website because you don't know how to care for fish properly and then flame us for trying to help. It's your fault you're killing your fish because you don't know what to do. All I'm going to do is laugh at you, maverick, because you're like the countless people who wander into this hobby then cry because you don't know what you're doing and losing fish because of it. You can't walk all over the people here because we're not immature children who blame people for their own mistakes :)

I've reported you, maverick, I hope you learn.

Deep breaths, folks...deep breaths.

Maverick - a few things. First, I hope you don't stop utilizing AC as a reseource. There really are a lot of very knowlegeable people here, and as evidenced by the first 3/4 of this thread, you got a lot of help and sounds like you learned quite a bit in a short amount of time, which is good. Second, its the internet...try not to take things to heart so quickly. It's hard to communicate clearly in a text-only environment, and sometimes things that are meant in a completely non-abrasive way are taken otherwise.

Everyone else - calm down a bit. We've all been newbs at one point or another. we've all made stupid mistakes. Everyone feels bad about screwing up and having pets die because of it...the last thing we need is to have it rubbed in our faces.

Hopefully the thread can get back on track, Maverick please keep us up to date with your progress.

Just to add my two cents along with everyone else - water changes are your friend, not chemicals. Ich can be treated with salt and raised temps, even in scaleless fish. I would agree with everyone else that before you set up new tanks, try to get the existing ones healthy. Prime is safe to overdose for dechlorination and detoxification of ammonia in an emergency. Water changes will not slow down the cycliing of a tank - if there is excess ammonia/nitrites (presumably the reason that you are doing so many water changes) then the bacteria have an excess of food and will continue to multiply as fast as possible.

Sorry...I have a big, loud mouth sometimes. Very loud. Gets me into trouble lol. Feel free to erase my previous post.

sorry if it seems like im flaming you. you just seem to ignore all the help you request.

The only reason it seems you ignore all of our suggestions is because of impromptu updates and confusing text. Two of us gave you the same suggestions to your predicament and you acknowledged that you understood. But on your return post, you state that you dumped a bottle of so-and-so in and a fish died.

for best results:
-you ask question
-we give suggestions
-you ask for clarification and perform chosen suggestion
-you update on how well the suggestion worked out for you, otherwise, repeat.

I apologize for being crass at you. :y220d:

lets try again.
