Hello all, I just got a used tank that has a t8 fluorescent that's pretty much spent. Are there any general suggestions for lighting that kind of tank? Right now I have two crypts and one anubias in my 10 Gal that are both growing well under only an 18" T8 15watt 2800K bulb. I was wondering if I should go with a double-bulb fixture or possibly a T5 high output (or a double T5). Also I noticed that the 24" fixture only has an 18" bulb in it, is this normal?
I want to put some easy plants in there, like maybe some java fern or a sword, plus the crypts and anubias I already have. Substrate will be half black tahitian moon sand and half flourite black sand (in the mail).
Is it true that if you bury rhizomatic plants in the substrate their roots will rot? My anubias is attached to driftwood but I want to know if I need to do something different with the java fern.
Fish are neons and ember tetras, an oto, and in the future some dwarf cories, another oto or two, and some MTS if I can find them.
