My question is i bought HC to form a carpet on the front of the tank. What is the best way to plant it to form the carpet the quickest. I recieved the hc in bunches should i break them up into small peices and how far away from each other should they be planted? thanks:confused:

HC is slow to attach to gravel, but once extabished SHOULD spread OK. You can break it up into many smaller lumps.

Thanks very much i think i will def break it up....but it does seem to take a while to attach, thank you.

Tank questions:

Seperate it into pieces with 2-3 plantlets (leaf nodes) per piece. Then plant each of these plantlets with tweezers. Bury one of the plantlets as an anchor, and leave the other sticking out a little. Plant them 3/4" to 2" apart (depending on how much you have and the size of the area to be covered).

It may help to lower the water level while doing this. It may also help to do it in several sessions. Work in patches, complete one 6 inch area before moving on to the next.

*Got this from Zezmo over at aquariumadvice.com (he knows his stuff!)

Hope this helps!

Post some pics of your process! :)

I would say high lights and c02 is needed for it to grow lush and to spread.

I tried to grow it with just high lights it never thrived and I had eco-complete substrate.

thats what i thought....i thought you had to put little pieces rather than leaving a whole bunch together, thanks for the advice, and ill def post some pics of the progress. thanks a bunch!

And i also have high light and co2 so i should be in good shape soon
