I just got my hands on a 240 gallon saltwater setup. I've always kept nothing but cichlids, from angels to discus and oscars. I'm curious if anyone has a good stocking list for a saltwater beginner I am undecided as to whether or not to convert it to freshwater, so I'd like ideas about keeping a SW with larger, colorful fish. Stock list?

You first need to decide a Reef tank or a Fish Only with Live Rock. That will determine the list of fish. The FOWLR will allow for more bigger aggressive fish while the Reef entails smaller reef fish. Anyway hope this helps and good luck!

Now that is one big tank! One of my dreams is to simply own a 100 gallon tank. With that much space, you can keep just about any kind of fish you want.

Not really true. There's lots of fish you can't keep in there. However, that is one big tank.

I'd also like to add that reef doesn't absolutely mean smaller fish - just a more limited selection of fishes you can have.

And thus the words "just about." That much space will cover the majority of commercial fish commonly available.

if I go SW, I'lll do FOWLR, but I'll put some fake reef decorations in there because I don't think I'm ready to tackle corals and inverts yet.

Any large species in particular, triggers, lionfish, wrasses, clowns (i know they're small)? What fish are the most fun to watch, and which large fish would be comfortable in a 240?
