Hi all,
I am setting up and stocking a new 25 gal. aquarium at the end of March, and I want to ask what fish to put in it. I'm partial to Silver Dollars, Tetras and a Pleco. Please respond.

I agree most plecos get too large for a 25 gallon. Why not look into an upside down cat, they stay smaller and have the same "look" more or less.

Also, Silver Dollars need alot more room than a 25g. They actually get suprisingly big.

There are plecos that stay small enough for a 25gal. Just be sure to do some research on the plecos your LFS has available before buying one.

If you're getting a pleco just for algae purposes, also look at oto catfish. They stay small and do a better job with algae than most plecos anyway.

I would like to ask what you all would put in a 25? I had several tanks in my youth up to a 54 gal. (36x18x18) but i now live in a small apartment and space is limited. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

smaller plecos - clown pleco, bristlenose pleco, queen arabesque pleco... all usually can be found for $30 or less, sometimes incredibly cheap if they're locally bred. Depending on the tankmates, one of the above species could be happy in that 25. Silver Dollars get far too large for that tank, but I'm sure you'll be able to find something else as a centerpiece. Perhaps dwarf cichlids like apistogramma, kribensis, or rams?
