cardinal tetras-these could work for a general community, but not with angels

Neon tetras-same as cardinals

corydoras-definitly community fish

pleco's-depends

angelfish-how tall is the tank?

Bettas-depends on the betta and other fish

Endlers livebearers-yep, but not with angels.

Otocinclus-not with angels, but great community fish

guppies-good community fish

mollies- dont keep them with angels. males can be nippy and need to be kept ingroups of 1 male per 3 females

how about platies? perfect community fish and go great with angels.
 
That was a list of what I've had before, not what I was going to stock with.
Someone recommended I get discus to put in there, he said around 6 (its a tall aquarium), would that work? If so, how many cardinals could I put in there? Say 4 Discus and 6-10 cardinals? (My tanks overfiltered btw).
 
Thats why I like to get others opinions, so i dont screw up too badly :D
But looking at other sites, it recommends a tank of at least 20 gallons, with 5 gallons per adult fish. I'm guessing I shouldn't take this information at face value?

Hopefully that "someone" doesn't ever think of keeping fish. Discus get 8", and about 6" high. You can't keep 1 in there. They also eat cardinals, usually.

I agree with Lupin in his narrowing of your list. Fish 6" or under (unless very thin and eel-like) are the max you could have in the tank, and you could only have 1 or 2 if they were 5-6". Whatever a "brown" knife is, all "knives" get to be WAY too big for you're tank. Kissing gouramis aswell, in a very large tank over a foot, typically in captivity 12". How big were you're aunt's fish? Not a foot long if they were kept in there. I'd advise you refrain from torturing fish, aka putting them in a tank only twice their potential length!! Stick with the following:

Endlers -social
Guppies -social
Platies -social
Mollies -social
Swordtails -social
Neons -schooling
Cardinals -schooling
Black Neons -schooling
Lemon Tetras -schooling
Serpae Tetras -schooling
Cories -social to schooling
Bettas -be careful. Only 1 male per tank, don't mix sexes. Beware with guppies, Serpaes, Endlers
Otos -3 max, social
Rams -3 max, pairs
Small Plecos -2 max, NOT COMMONS
Bumblebee Gobies -be wary of agression between them, 3 max, get only the ones with complete black bars
Honey Gouramis, -3 max,trios
Dwarf Gouramis, -3 max, trios, not with bettas

You mean for discus? What site said that? It's more like 40g+, 10-15g per adult.
