I am just about to get a new 4 foot 55 gallon fish tank and I want to set it up as a community tank with medium sized fish in it.

I will be running Resun 1500 lph canister filter on the tank.

I have an idea of the fish that I want to keep in the tank, i'm not 100% sure if they will all live happily together. From what i've found on the internet they all appear to prefer very similar water conditions...

I was thinking of putting the following fish in the tank:
3 Clown Loaches
2 Angelfish
1 Bristlenose Catfish
1 Redtail Black Shark

Can someone please let me know if these will live together... I know the redtail sharks can be agressive to their own kind, but i've also heard stories about them being agressive towards other fish...

I was also thinking of putting an electric yellow in this tank as well, but i've heard that they can bully other fish in a community tank.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Well, you're going to be pretty heavy on the bottom in that tank with what you're thinking about. Clown loaches can work in a 55 gallon tank, but some people say that even a tank of that size is too small. So I would say no to them. The red tailed black shark shouldn't be a problem. Mine has never bothered any fish except for some chinese algae eaters and/or fish that are constantly moving about, such as giant danios or buenos aires tetras. So I don't think you'll have a problem with that. As far as the angels, it's best to keep either one or more than three, so that the agression will be spread out. Plus they like dither fish (small fish that move a lot) because they make them feel safe. So I would say maybe a school of tetras, rasboras, or barbs (not tigers, too nippy) or ranging from 6-8 fish and 4 angels would look good. You could get a school of 5-7 cories to take care of the bottom, as well. The electric yellow shouldn't be put in here, since they should only be kept with other african cichlids.
