These pics suck, but you get the idea. The tank is scratched because I used it for a very temporary home for a tiger pleco. Lesson learned- no panaque catfish in acrylic tanks.
The black sand is Estes brand. I've always liked their substrates but I have to say this one is a real pain! 3 days later some of it was still floating. I'd try Tahitian Moon next time.

My sister has a sparkler tank with black sand and the dark substrate really enhances their colouring and shimmeryness (is that even a word lol). Awesome little fish, their 'croaks' echo through the whole house .
