ok, I just found a 55 gallon tank that someone is giving to me for free. I don't know yet what kind of filtration is with it but i can install whatever i need to. I would like to make this a cichlid tank but i have never had any before. what would be a good combination of fish to make this a colorful and active tank?

you could do some of the above with other smaller fish that are compatible, to have fish that swim at all levels of the aquarium.
