I am getting a brand new 55g tank and I was just looking for suggestions on what to put in it. Basically, if you had a brand new 55g, what would you put in it? I want a more aggresive tank rather than community.. Thanks in advance! :thm:

if you don't mind an agressive tank there are some gorgeous cichlids out there... i don't know much about them... you could get angels which are semi agressive and v.pretty.

Yeha, I have been checking out a lot of Cichlids here. I'm liking the looks of some of them a lot... I'm thinkin about putting a few Tiger Barbs in there... does anyone know if 4 tiger barbs could be put in a tank with some cichlids. I thought maybe since they are semi-aggresive and they tend to school it wouldnt be an issue.. keep the suggestions coming, thanks again!

Tiger barbs would probably get eaten when the cichlids got bigger
i have convicts (max size about 6 in.) and they have lots of personality and are pretty dam aggressive -lol- you might also like a pair of Texas cichlids (about 10 in.) my parents used to keep them and my mom says that the pictures on the internet that she has seen dont do them any justice and its true they too are very aggressive also Jack Dempsey's (about 12in.) are very aggressive along with Green Terrors(about 12 in.) wich may not be AS aggressive but are very beautiful but keep in mind all those mentioned above would eat a tiger barb when they get bigger and i wouldnt recommend tiger barbs with anglefish because tigers are fin nippers and i found that out the hard way when i first started...i lost both of my anglefish to my tiger barbs

well good luck on what ever you decide to put in your tank and keep us posted on how it goes.

I've never had any success in keeping tiger barbs with aggressive cichlids. The barbs will be picked off one by one.

That sucks, I really wanted some. Hehe, I guess I'll just have to get another tank, lol. My friend wants to sell me his Needle Nose Gar, how would he be in a tank with some cichlids?

ya cou;d never get away with a tiger barb in a cichlid tank maybe a tin foil barb

the tin foil needs a WAY bigger tank than a 55 gallon would allow it would out grow it
