Hey all,

I am starting up a ~60 g with the following dimensions: 49"l * 24"t * 14"w (I think it calculates out to about 63 g). It's kind of tall so I want to make it a home for fish in all three regions. It will be lightly planted, with concentrations on the sides with some rock and driftwood along the whole length. I'll post pictures when I get it set up. I'll cycle it with plants and without fish. Do you have any ideas about stocking?

Substrate: flourite/med. gravel mix
Filtration: two marineland 200 gph biowheel

I was thinking neon/cardinal tetras, harlequin rasboras, and rubber lip/bristlenose plecos for waste and algae consumption (without too much plant harm).

Thanks for the input!

Your tank is actually a 71g tank. When you do the unit converter make sure you are in US gallons.

I made my 60g tall into a Uruguayan cichlid tank! Really happy with the results. I have 5 Gymnogeophagus labiatus, 5 G. n. sp. "Sequiera", 6 Corydoras paleatus, 6 Harlequin rasboras, and 3 Danios. Here are a couple of pics I took a couple weeks ago!

The tank did turn out really nice! When you are looking for fish for your tank I'd just make sure you get ones that will take advantage of and use the height of your tank.

Trigiver: You can get a group of angelfish to make sure you use the height of the aquarium, then get a school of large-bodied characins (tetras). You could later add a group of corydoras to cover the bottom of the tank, so all the areas of the tank are used and accented! :)

abarilot: I really liked how you used tall driftwood to accent the height of the tank. PM me, or just post here where you bought (or found) your driftwood.

Could you post the driftwood question? I'm interested, too.

Also - how many angels? I know they can be aggressive.

I started with 8, but most people go with 6 and let them naturally choose their mates.

abarilot PMed me and told me he found his driftwood for a good deal on Craigslist if I remember right. ;)
