New 72 gallon bow front!!!

Hey all...

I'm at work so I can't provide the pics but Hubby drafted the sump and overflow box and we are getting the glass cut this week. I'll post the pics of the drawings later tonight...

I feel like a little kid waiting for Xmas to come...

Stocking? I want a Cowfish, but we also have corals so this may be a hit and miss. Do realize it will need a bigger tank but Our lfs said give it a try and would take it back if it's a problem and also once it gets too big he would take it back if we don't go bigger, which we of course will!!! And will wait about 3-4mths of it being established before we add the cowfish...As for stocking once it's cycled we will be adding:
Current livestock:
2 Percula Clowns(still skiddish except at feeding time and adopted the Brain coral as home)
1 Lawnmower Blennie(awsome fish)
2 Cleaner Shrimp(hilarious how they sway and are persistent cleaners)
1 Emerald Crab(not eating the Bubble algae...)
5 Nassarius Snails,
3 Bumble Bee snails(waste of $$$)Useless critters
1 Brown/yellow feather duster
1 Red seastar(6 arms)
Bristle worms, pods, spagetti worms, fan worms, small slugs, etc...
Corals:
1 Open/closed? Green brain
1 whiteish pink leather branch?
1 Colony Green star polyps
1 colony(approx 20 large medium and small) Blue Mushroom

What I want to add:
2 sleeper gobies(not sure which ones and want them pair'd)
1 Cowfish ???researching
Frogspawn
Anemone??? researching...one that percula's actually home...(yet another hit and miss situation)

Sorry so long, just being thorough...Any criticism is welcome(not to harsh please)and ideas...

Thanks, Brandy
P.S. will definately do pics once we get things rolling...:dance2:

all sounds great as long as u have good lighting on there....but the cowfish is a really bad idea....iv tried with them and all they ended up doing bad no matter what i did is they got ich somehow and then died and released their poison and killed almost everything else in the tank. they also get to be over 20 inches long and therefor need a minimum of 175 gallons but a 300 would be much better. they also will pick on snails, crustaceans, and rarely corals. they just have a super high fatality rate.
sorry i know they are so cute though! when i worked in the aquarium store they always sold to women lol...id see a couple come in and id hear a "oh hunny its so cute" and then we had a cowfish sold...lol:)

LMAO...thanks for the advice. They are so cute with there puckered up lips. I watched the small one at the lfs keep sucking on something on the rock, it was hilarious. We'll see what happens, but here's to hoping...:)

I have added a couple pics of our designs for the Sump and overflow. We want to have as little piping visable as possible, so we are going to put a glass overflow in the tank. Close to the top approx 16" long 6 1/2" high and either 2" or 3" deep, depending on the full height of a 1 1/2" elbow, allowing us to hopefully create a standpipe if the noise is too much. I am hoping where the water only has approx 6 inches to drop that the gurgling noise will be minimal.
We still haven't decided on the exact location of the baffles in the sump, Likely we will do that once we have the glass cut, and the outside box put together, We want to keep as much room as possible for our refugem!!

I have a 72 bowfront as a pred tank. The front glass is a PITA to clean. Be forewarned.

Thanks for the warning JOJO, assumed it would be so we'll take the extra measures (with the right srub pads) to tend to it. The bow front just looks so good, we couldn't pass it up...Hopefully everything will be built this wknd.

I so hate waiting!!!

Did you find a curved pad??? If so where did you get it??

JOJO, Our LFS sells all kinds of srub pads on extended plastic arms...I am partial to the magnet ones(no hands in the water). Might not be able to totally avoid putting hands in but it will be minimal...

When we purchase it I could take a pic and show you. We are in Canada so not sure if you could get the same thing if that is what you are inquiring.

If so then we could just bye a couple extra and send'em off to ya...if not available where you are...

Let me know...
